Confirmado novo álbum para Outubro

Depois que Polly Samson (esposa de David Gilmour) divulgou a notícia de um novo álbum da banda britânica em seu Twitter, o fim de semana foi cheio de especulações. Surgiram várias. Como um vídeo com áudio com o título "Soundscape", que era executada pela banda antes dos shows da última turnê.

Hoje veio a confirmação pela página oficial da banda no facebook: "Pink Floyd confirma o lançamento do novo álbum "The Endless River" (O Rio Interminável). As canções são principalmente ambientais e instrumentais, baseadas nas sessões de 1993/94. O trabalho será produzido por Gilmour, Phil Manzanera e pelo engenheiro de gravação Andy Jackson. O trabalho está em andamento e mais notícias serão divulgadas".

"The Endless River" será o décimo quinto álbum de estúdio do Pink Floyd, e até então era a última frase da canção "High Hopes" (lançada há 20 anos).

*Durga McBroom, backing vocal envolvida no projeto diz que não há qualquer participação de Roger Waters. E também diz que não haverá turnê. Porém ela pede para que fiquemos atentos.

Pink Floyd are to release a new album in October, according to Dave Gilmour's wife.

Polly Samson says via Twitter that the record – called The Endless River – features work by the late Floyd keyboard player and multi instrumentalist Rick Wright.

Her tweet reads: “Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called The Endless River. Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful.”

In May, Samson – who contributed lyrics to Floyd's last album The Division Bell – posted a picture of Gilmour in the studio and it was assumed he was working on a new solo album.

It turns out he was at work on Pink Floyd's 15th record and first since The Division Bell in 1994.

Also in the picture was long-time Floyd and Gilmour collaborator, vocalist Durga McBroom-Hudson, who reposted the photo on Facebook and says: Remember this photo? It wasn't what you thought it was. Yes there is a new Pink Floyd album coming out. And I'm on it. And there was much rejoicing.”

She later added: "The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions and yes, it was the side project originally titled The Big Spliff that Nick Mason spoke about. Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it.

"But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them. That's the song you see being worked on in the photo."

Rick Wright died in 2008 from cancer at the age of 65.

A spokesman for Pink Floyd said there would be no tour to accompany the album.

Um fã de 51 anos do Pink Floyd foi condenado a 28 dias de prisão por tocar os álbuns da banda alto e repetidamente pela madrugada.

Paul Foster, de Chesterton, Stoke-on-Trent [na região leste da Inglaterra], foi jogado atrás das grades após ignorar cinco determinações judiciais contra tocar música alto nos últimos anos.

Vizinhos contaram que eles aguentaram noite após noite ouvindo The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here e The Wall - seguidos por sessões de baladas soul.

Um dos vizinhos de Foster disse à SWNS [agência de notícias Inglesa]: "É um pesadelo. Eu gosto de Pink Floyd tanto quanto o homem ao lado - mas não quando está sendo tocado dez vezes por dia até as 4 da manhã."

"Eu perdi as contas das vezes que ouvi Barry White e Marvin Gaye vindo da casa, mas era principalmente Pink Floyd. Eu acho que sempre que ouvir as músicas deles de novo eu subirei pelas paredes."

Foi noticiado que uma família abandonou a casa que vivia havia 20 anos após aguentar a parede de som de Foster.

Ele foi à corte no último mês de Setembro e concordou com uma ordem de ajustamento de conduta, que ele quebrou em Outubro e Dezembro. Em janeiro ele foi citado com uma determinação o banindo de fazer barulho na vizinhança, mas novamente quebrou em Fevereiro e Março.

NEWS: Banda acabou em 1985, segundo Roger Waters

Rumores sempre catalisam a ânsia de fãs que não querem ver o óbvio. Mas ROGER WATERS, baixista e um dos fundadores da banda inglesa PINK FLOYD, deixou um fato claro em entrevista recente ao The Sun: não haverá reunião alguma da banda.

Esse é um ponto usualmente tocado quando algum jornalista conversa com o roqueiro de 69 anos. Ele saiu do grupo após dois anos de lançamento do álbum “The Final Cut”, de 1983, afirmando a quem quisesse ouvir que o Floyd era “uma força criativa desgastada”.

“Eu deixei o Pink Floyd por razões muito boas e foi a coisa certa a se fazer. Ela [a banda] acabou em 1985 e continua assim”, pontua.

Ademais, o baixista diz que seu relacionamento é o melhor possível com os ex-companheiros NICK MASON e DAVID GILMOUR.

NEWS: Syd Barrett: irmã diz que ele não era recluso

O “Crazy Diamond”, fundador do PINK FLOYD, não foi uma casualidade do ácido ou um recluso total – ele amava a arte, como disse a sua irmã, Rosemary, em sua primeira entrevista em três décadas, ao biógrafo Tim Willis, em julho de 2006.

Quando a morte aos 60 anos de Roger “Syd” Barrett foi anunciada, a mídia levantou uma última e surpreendente aclamação ao fundador do PINK FLOYD. As suas descrições como “gênio maluco”, “recluso” e “vítima do LSD” estavam longe da realidade, de acordo com Rosemary. Ela descreve Barrett como um homem que "simplesmente não entendia” o interesse dos outros pela suas antigas obras do Pink Floyd, e que estava absorto demais em seus pensamentos para dividir o seu tempo com os fãs".

Na sua infância, Rosemary dividia um quarto com o seu irmão, e lembra que ele pulava de baixo dos lençóis e começava a conduzir uma orquestra imaginária. De acordo com ela, Syd sempre teve uma mente extraordinária, próxima do autismo, explorava ambigüidades em linguagens e chegou a sentir a “synaesthesia” (habilidade de “ver sons e escutar cores), algo que influenciaria muito a sua música psicodélica.

Como artista contratado, Syd sofria com stress. Não somente ele descobriu que a fama era uma espada de dois gumes, mas também era muito resistente às exigências comerciais de sua gravadora. Entre janeiro de 1966 e janeiro de 1968, ele fez 220 shows no Reino Unido, além de escrever, gravar e co-produzir a maioria das canções do primeiro álbum do PINK FLOYD e boa parte do segundo.

É fato que a ingestão entusiástica de qualquer droga disponível pode ter acionado algum comportamento perturbador em Barrett, assim como o stress pode provocar colapso nervoso em qualquer um. Em 1981, quando voltou a Cambridge, ele fez um pequeno – porém significante – progresso. Rosemary garante que Syd nunca sofreu de qualquer doença mental nem recebeu tratamento para isso. Ele passou um tempo em um “abrigo para almas perdidas”, onde não recebia nenhum tratamento terapêutico, e até fez algumas sessões com um psiquiatra – que não recomendou nenhum tratamento ou medicamento.

A irmã de Barrett conta: “Grande parte da vida dele era normal, de uma forma entediante. Ele cuidava de si próprio, da casa e do jardim. Ele saía de bicicleta para comprar coisas básicas, passava o dia com os vendedores e usava madeira para construir coisas para o jardim e a casa. Na verdade, Syd não era um operário muito bom, estava sempre rindo de suas tentativas, mas gostava disso[...] Quando Roger trabalhava, ele escutava fitas de Jazz: Thelonious Monk, Django Reinhardt, Charlie Parker e Miles Davis eram os seus favoritos. Excetuando os Rolling Stones, ele havia perdido interesse na música Pop há muito tempo”.

A pintura, paixão maior de Barrett, tinha um estilo próprio: ele tirava a foto de uma flor em particular, pintava uma tela da foto, tirava uma foto da tela e depois destruía a tela. “Uma vez que uma coisa acabava, acabava mesmo para ele, sem necessidade de outra visita. É por isso que ele evitou contato com jornalistas e fãs – ele não entendia o interesse em algo que aconteceu há tanto tempo atrás”, diz Rosemary.

Ela acrescenta dizendo que “Roger pode ter sido egoísta, mas as acusações de ‘recluso’ eram projeções das decepções das pessoas que utilizavam a palavra. Ele sabia o que os outros queriam, mas não estava disposto a dar. Roger era único; as pessoas não tinham um vocabulário para descrevê-lo[...] Ele era fantástico com crianças, as divertia com a forma em que falava, brincando com as palavras”.

Syd gostava de se vestir bem, e era obcecado pela limpeza de suas roupas. Ele sofreu com úlcera por 30 anos, além de desenvolver diabetes. A sua irmã conta que ele era uma pessoa muito amável, popular entre os vendedores locais, e que, debaixo de sua personalidade peculiar, era sólido como uma pedra. “Pode ter sido uma responsabilidade cuidar dele, mas nunca foi um fardo”, finaliza Rosemary.

NEWS: Roger Waters 2013 European Tour Dates Announced

Roger Waters is set to return to Europe in 2013 to perform at least 20 more renditions of The Wall tour. Further concerts will be announced shortly so make sure you get our Free Newsletter for further details.

Many of the shows will be on a grand scale being outdoor open-air stadium performances as have been done in the Americas on the last leg of the 2012 tour.

For these large open air stadiums, Roger Waters has re-designed and scaled up The Wall show to create the ultimate stadium event, bringing The Wall experience even closer to fans wherever they are sitting and making the production even more encompassing in large venues.

Roger Waters says, “I’m extremely glad to be playing The Wall in Europe again. It’s going to be a lot of fun for all of us. I’ve reworked the show to play outdoors in large stadiums. It’s really good. Even more moving, engaging, dramatic and thrilling than the Arena shows. I’ve had to rethink the whole thing about stadiums. This wide wall stadium show couldn’t have been done 40 years ago. We couldn’t have filled the space in a way that would have been emotionally, musically and theatrically satisfying. Technology has changed. Now we can.”

NEWS: Roger Waters to Perform at Benefit Concert October 2012

Roger Waters will join an all star lineup to perform at a benefit concert on 3rd October at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA.

All net proceeds from the concert will help support the lasting legacy of Levon Helm by helping his estate keep ownership of his home, barn and studio, and to continue The Midnight Ramble Sessions.

Levon performed with Roger Waters at the Wall Live in Berlin concert in 1990.

NEWS: Pink Floyd Denies Duet At 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony

Don’t get too excited about the supposed duet between legends Pink Floyd and English songwriter Ed Sheeran because according to the band … it’s just not happening.

The rumors came about when Sheeran was interviewed by Nova 106.9, where he said, “I’m playing the closing ceremony – which I think is kinda cool right? A lot of people think that I’m doing a song with the Who but I’m not — I’m doing a song with Pink Floyd. I’m doing ‘Wish You Were Here.’”

Naturally, given the fact that the band broke up in 1985 and have only reunited a couple of times, it was an instant headline maker and a valuable piece of information. The band most notedly played together during 2005′s Live 8 and also at Roger Waters‘ 2011 London headline show. Though the latter was merely the surviving members — David Gilmour and Nick Mason. Richard Wright passed away in 2008. And once the words left Ed’s jaw, fans were certainly picking theirs up and scouring the Internet for some sort of solidification.

Yet, sadly with just a short amount of time passing Pink Floyd released a statement saying, “In response to press speculation, Pink Floyd state that the band is NOT performing at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.”

Thanks, Ed, for getting the world’s hopes up. Regardless, the closing ceremonies are sure to be fantastic still. The plan is to celebrate 50 years of British music. Much of it is being kept a secret, with only The Who, Kaiser Chiefs, Take That, George Michael and Emeli Sande being confirmed as performers.

So who knows … perhaps Pink Floyd will make an appearance. We’ll just have to watch and see.
